Vishnu Janardan Rock Cut Sculpture

The group of beautifully carved rock-cut images of Visnu, Ganesha, Surya, Devi and Siva is located on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River near Sukreswar temple (river side), Guwahati. The colossal image of Visnu shown in seated posture is carved on a granite outcrop. On the right side of Visnu the images of Ganesha and Surya are carved while on the left the images of Siva and Mahisasuramardini are portrayed. The stylistic features show that the sculptures belong to circa 9th century CE.
